THE SPEECH DELIVERED BY HRRF IN SUPPORT FOR HUMAN RIGHTS, FREEDOM and DeMOCRACY

September 3, 2019 19:46 PM ET

This speech was delivered by a member of HRRF at the rally at Town Hall Sydney, Australia on 29 September 2019 in support for human rights, freedom and democracy for Hong Kong, Tibet, Uighur and freedom of religious practice of Falun Gong

Friends and Supporters of human rights and the rule of law,

Whilst we gather today on this peaceful land, breathing the air of freedom and democracy, millions of people in China are suffering unthinkable systematic human rights abuse every single minute. They face persecution on the hands of their governments for simply exercising their rights, the rights to live in dignity without fear of being abused, tortured and imprisoned, the rights to practice their faiths, the rights to assemble and the rights to seek happiness

As we all know, China is one of the greatest countries on earth, holding a prominent and prestige position in the United Nations: the permanent member of the United Nations’ Security Council. Unfortunately, the Chinese Communist Government does not live up to its responsibility. It chooses not to follow the rule of law, act irresponsibly and to continue to violate human rights on its people

You might hear recently on the news, approximately 1 to 1.5 million Uighur people who live in the Chinese province of Xinjiang, have been held against their will in the so-call “re-education” camps, Uighur people are forced not to speak their own language and practice their faith even at home. Worst of all, the Chinese communist government is systematically committing culture, language and racial eradication on Tibet and Uighur people

Not long ago, Hong Kong's police force under Beijing’s orders continues to deny Hong Kong people their basic rights that is to peaceful assemble to protest a bill that seriously compromises Hong Kong’s independent within the agreed system.

Friends and supporters of human rights,

Don’t turn our back on Tibet, Uighur and Hong Kong people and Falun Gong Religious Group in China. They have been suffering so much for years under the brutality of the Chinese Communist dictatorship. Enough is enough, the Chinese Communist Government must immediately stop all human rights abuses, stop torture and persecution of its people, to respect and observe the Universal Declaration of Human Rights - the United Nations which China is a signatory.

Closer to home, we call on our Australian government to stand up and protect Australian citizens. An Australian blogger Yang Hengjun has been detained since January this year. He has been denied access to a lawyer. Recent report indicates that he is being shackled in chains and interrogated. Similarly, our government must publicly raise the case of Chau Van Kham with the Vietnamese Communist Party. After all, Mr Chau is an Australian citizen who has also been arrested in January this year and denied access to legal representation. The Australian government must strongly demand the Chinese Communist Party and the Vietnamese Communist Party respect the human rights of Australians.

Thank you and God bless you all.
